A $15.6 million Powerball win would have been more than enough cause for a Kapiti Lotto player to set off fireworks last night.
New Zealand Lotteries chief executive Todd McLeay said the winning ticket, sold at Waikanae Beach Four Square, netted $15.1m from Powerball first division and $500,000 from Lotto first division.
"With a huge prize like this, our winners will want to keep celebrating all week," he said.
The Lotto first division prize was shared with a winner from Wellsford who also picked up $500,000 from a ticket bought at Woody's Winners.
