KEY POINTS:
A "grossly intoxicated" 15-year-old girl was among 34 drivers arrested during a drink-driving blitz in Bay of Plenty during the weekend.
More than 3100 drivers were tested at checkpoints from Friday night to Sunday morning.
The Bay of Plenty Times said today the girl was stopped by police in Tauranga about 2am on Saturday.
Police officers said she was grossly intoxicated, although they were still waiting on blood alcohol test results.
There were three other girls in the car.
The girl was released to her parents and the case has been referred to Youth Aid.
As well as the 34 drink drivers, police impounded 10 vehicles and suspended 13 driver licences for 28 days due to the drivers' alcohol levels exceeding 650 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
The highest reading was more than 960mcg of alcohol per litre of breath. The adult limit is 400.
