14 years for abuse of girl

A young girl became pregnant after being used as a sexual plaything by her stepfather and step-grandfather, the High Court in Auckland has heard.

Yesterday Justice Patrick Keane sentenced the 59-year-old partner of the girl's grandmother to 14 years' imprisonment on rape and other charges. He ordered the man, who cannot be named to avoid identifying the girl, to serve at least eight years.

Four years ago the stepfather, who left the 12-year-old pregnant, was jailed for 15 years.
