KEY POINTS:
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man found lying injured in a Tokoroa street this morning died in hospital.
The 22-year-old victim was spotted on St. Andrews Drive in the Waikato town about 2am. Police said his identity has not yet been confirmed.
He was taken to Tokoroa Hospital but died soon after arrival.
Police said a 14-year-old Tokoroa youth had been arrested and charged with murder.
He would appear in Youth Court at Rotorua on Tuesday.
A post mortem examination would be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of the man's death.
Police are trying to reconstruct the movements of the victim before he was found injured, and a scene examination is being carried out.
Police want anyone with information about the killing to contact them.
The killing was the ninth violent homicide this month.
