A 13-year-old tramper has been rescued by helicopter after hurting her foot during a tramp in the Nelson Lakes National Park.
The girl injured herself while tramping with her family at Upper Travers Hut late yesterday afternoon.
After realising she would be unable to walk back out herself, a family member tramped back out to St Arnaud village today and raised the alarm.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter flew in to the hut this afternoon, where the girl was assessed and treated by a paramedic before being flown to Nelson Hospital for further care.
