A 13-year-old boy has been run over and killed in Christchurch tonight.
Police say at 6.10pm a car hit a pedestrian who was crossing Dyers Rd at the intersection with Ferry Road.
The teenaged pedestrian died from his injuries.
Police have spoken to the driver of the car, and investigations into the cause of the crash are being carried out with help from the Serious Crash Unit.
Police are currently notifying the boy's family.
