A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being injured during a rugby game this afternoon.
St John Ambulance transported the child to Whangarei Hospital about midday.
The boy was hurt while playing for the under 11 Old Boys team at Kensginton Park in Whangarei.
Kyal Collins, operations manager for the Northland Rugby Union, said he had been in touch with the child's family and the boy was doing well.
