Firefighters battled a large blaze in a restaurant on Auckland's Khyber Pass during Auckland's evening rush hour traffic today.
The fire was already "well involved" when the first of 12 engines arrived at the scene, and firefighters concentrated on stopping flames spreading to nearby buildings, an Auckland fire communications centre spokesman told NZPA.
He recommended not driving in that part of town, saying rush-hour traffic would probably be at a standstill.
