A Palmerston North couple who allegedly shot at police during a Bonnie and Clyde-style chase last month in North Otago now face more than 100 charges.
Neither Christopher Daniel Shaw, 25, nor Stacey Estelle Snelleksz, 20, entered a plea when they reappeared in Oamaru District Court yesterday.
The charges arose from an alleged mini crime wave which started in Picton and ended when their Land Rover crashed near Palmerston, north of Dunedin, on February 2.
The pair, with toddlers aged 18 months and 12 months, in their arms took off across farmland but gave themselves up after being surrounded police.
Several shots were fired during the police chase and road spikes had not stopped the Land Rover which was found to be full of stolen goods.
After their arrest, Shaw and Snelleksz faced a raft of charges including using a firearm against police, vehicle theft, wilfully ill-treating a child, dangerous driving, burglary, receiving, and cultivating cannabis.
Yesterday, police brought another 43 charges against them.
They were further remanded in custody.
