A 10-year-old boy has been referred to Youth Aid in connection to an alleged indecent assault of a 16-year-old girl walking home from school in Hastings on Tuesday.
A 13-year-old boy would also be spoken to by police tomorrow in relation to the assault, Detective Jude Hill said. He would also be referred to Youth Aid.
The girl was on her way home from school when she was approached by the two boys at the intersection of Willowpark Rd and Ellison Rd.
They started indecently assaulting her but stopped when a man driving past yelled out his window at them.
"The boys ran away, the girl ran off, but then she slowed down to walk again and then they popped up in front of her again," Ms Hill said.
It was a bit scary for the girl but she was doing well, Ms Hill said.
Both boys were truant from school.
