A millionaire walked off the stage after hitting the jackpot on Lotto's winning wheel last night.
Daniel is a 27-year-old Chinese national studying English in New Zealand. He gave the wheel an enthusiastic shove to become the year's first million-dollar spinner.
Daniel said the win would allow him to pursue his dream of becoming an electrician and travelling the world.
"I will give some of the money to my parents and grandparents, they have looked after me for a long time," he said.
Daniel said he usually bought a Lotto ticket once every two or three weeks, when he remembered.
