The Palmerston North Film Society's 2016 season of classic and contemporary cinema has begun.
Every Wednesday at Downtown Cinemas locals will be able to see 38 movies that show over 15 cultures and languages over the time period from 1920 to now.
Palmerston North Film Society secretary Myra Shotton says they show a range of films that people wouldn't usually see in Palmerston North.
"The movies are relatable and cover all genres. It is an excellent way to see history, learn about other cultures or to see what is happening around the world."
Mrs Shotton has been attending the seasons since 1980 and will never miss a screening.
