If New Zealand is to be a strong country we need growth in the regions, according to one entrepreneur who is encouraging others to move to places like Palmerston North.
Internet service provider, Unlimited Internet, recently relocated their contact centre from Auckland to Palmerston North after seeing the benefits the region offered.
Spearhead Manawatu director Craig Nash played a pivotal role in convincing the company to move, citing key attractions such as lower overall costs and a higher quality workforce.
"In Palmerston North, the retention rate for staff is pretty much unrivalled," he said. "With a mostly family-based demographic, the workforce is generally made up of stable people who are established in the region."
Mr Nash said there was a demand for high-end customer service that was Kiwis working for Kiwis, and central New Zealand had an expanding and attractive talent pool in this area.
