Palmerston North police and the Armed Offenders Squad have executed a search warrant this morning after receiving information in relation to a possible armed incident.
Senior Sergeant Brett Calkin of the Palmerston North police said officers had descended upon a property in Montrose Place with the AOS as precaution after receiving information relating to the address.
"There was an incident in Palmerston North yesterday and we believe a firearm may have been presented; we have received a call this morning and believe a firearm may be present at the property. As a result of this information we will be executing a search warrant."
Police had cordoned off the street and laid road spikes, but these were removed around midday. The AOS also departed the scene at around the same time, leaving half a dozen officers at the property.
