Multi-instrumentalist trio Kitty, Daisy and Lewis have turned out a vibrant, energy-filled fourth album showcasing their modern take on blues, rock & roll and soul, an old-time sound from a millennial perspective.
Opening track You're So Fine kicks things off at a measured pace with its funky rhythms and sassy lyrics - "Is it such a crime, that I want to make you mine, baby you're so fine" - before they step it up with the punkish The Game Is On, switching as effortlessly from male to female vocals as they do between genres.
A highlight is the groovy Black Van, about the thrill of a new relationship while on the road touring. It's hard to believe the track was originally written for piano, as its driving guitars, jumble of jangle and manic lead breaks seem integral to the song's joie de vivre.
Check out also the beautifully slow-burning Team Strong and the honky-tonk rock & roll of Down On My Knees.
Superscope is a short album at 35 minutes but it packs so much in to its 10 tracks you'll be quickly hitting repeat for another burst of genre anarchy.
