Masterton playwright Owen Winter has won a top award in the prestigious Playmarket Young Playwrights' Competition.
Winter, 21, won the central region category , earning him the right to travel to Dunedin in June to work with a professional director and cast.
His winning play, Castlepoint Dream, follows a young man as he visits his family's bach one last time before leaving to live in Auckland. In the bach the man reflects on past experiences there that have influenced his life.
Winter is now working on his next play, which is about the 1981 Springbok tour.
