Three young Auckland chefs have been named finalists in an international competition.
Thomas Hishon from Orphans Kitchen, Xin Jing of Cocoro and William Mordido of Chikos have made the top 10 out of 3000 candidates in the Pacific region of the San Pellegrino Young Chef Awards.
The Kiwis will cook off with chefs from Australia at an event in Melbourne on February 16 and a judging panel will taste each of their signature dishes and select one Pacific winner.
By the end of February, the 20 best young chefs, one from each region, will be announced.
They will go on to the San Pellegrino Talent Awards on June 25-27 in Milan, where they will compete for the title.
