X Men: The Last Stand, the final instalment of a Marvel Comics' trilogy, grossed US$107 million ($171.06 million) in its first weekend in North America, becoming the fourth biggest debut of all time.
Box office tracker Exhibitor Relations Co said X Men, starring Ian McKellenas the evil Magneto and Hugh Jackman as the heroic Wolverine, easily pushed The Da Vinci Code into second place at the box office, only a week after the religious thriller took $US77 million in its first weekend.
