A selection of World of Wearable Arts garments made a splash at an exclusive event for fashion and yachting royalty in America.
Dean Barker, Sir Russell Coutts, Grant Dalton and Sir Peter Blake's son James were among 700 guests at Louis Vuitton's America's Cup-themed showcase in San Francisco on Saturday night. The show was held at the Legion of Honour Museum at the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco, and other guests included Louis Vuitton international personnel and journalists from the likes of Vogue, Tatler, Elle, GQ and the Daily Telegraph.
WOW founder Dame Susie Moncrieff said they were approached for six garments that reflected the countries and spirit of the yacht race.
She said the designs had made an impression on Louis Vuitton 10 years ago, when a private show was held for the race sponsors.
WOW international projects manager Ali Boswijk said a "stylised contemporary view of traditional Maori dress" designed by New Zealander Olivia Hall portrayed Emirates Team New Zealand.
