Invercargill seven - Grey Lynn nil.
The World's Fastest Indian, the hit film about the motorcycle exploits of legendary Southland speedfreak Burt Munro roared away with seven honours at the 2006 Screen Awards tonight.
However its comedy rival Sione's Wedding, about four wayward Samoan blokes from Grey Lynn, came away empty handed despite its 10 nominations and a local box office popularity second only to Indian.
Sione's star and co-writer, Oscar Kightley - and his fellow members of the Naked Samoans comedy team - had to be content with three TV awards for animated series bro'Town, which included best comedy.
The Air New Zealand-sponsored awards bringing together the local big and small screen industries were held at Auckland's SkyCity.
The World's Fastest Indian was the evening's big winner taking out best picture, best director for Roger Donaldson and best actor for British star Sir Anthony Hopkins who played Munro.
Neither Donaldson or Hopkins were at the ceremony because of movie committments overseas. Donaldson's daughter Melissa accepted on her father's behalf.
Writer-director Toa Fraser's family drama No.2 also did well winning four awards, including Ruby Dee for best actress. The 81-year-old New Yorker, who played Nanna Maria, was also unable to make it to the ceremony.
Other awards went to Rene Naufahu (best supporting actor) and Mia Blake (best supporting actress) for No.2.
River Queen won best cinematography for Alun Bollinger - who took over as director from Vincent Ward during the troubled production - and best costume design.
Best short film was Jane Shearer's Nature's Way.
In the television section, most awards went to offbeat comedy The Insiders Guide To Love with six wins including best actress (Kate Elliott), best actor (Gareth Reeves), and best director (Nathan Price).
Despite not gaining any acting or technical wins from its nine nominations, Westie family drama Outrageous Fortune won the top awards for best drama programme and series.
Marcus Lush won best best presenter for his show Off The Rails - A Love Story, while New Zealand drug culture doco High Times won best documentary/factual series and best reality series went to Border Patrol.
