Other customers backed her complaint, with one saying they were so soggy he couldn't even finish them.
The German restaurant responded to complaints and said the nachos were the "European version", and the justification seemed to outrage diners even more.
"European version? Aka a bag of chips dropped on a plate. You should've stuck with the South American version, you know, with actual ingredients," a customer said.
Another also scoffed at the European nachos.
"European version? You are surely taking the p**s. Just admit it's not good enough and apologise. Don't go making these poor excuses," the other customer said.
Even Europeans didn't want to claim the bland corn chip dish that was served up.
"You must be having a laugh, I'm European and this is definitely NOT how we do nachos over here," one said.
Elmar's in the Valley said they were just a different type of nachos diners weren't used to.
"Our version of nachos is not a soggier kind that you are accustomed to that has loads of sauce. We have opted to sell a European version which showcases corn chips and not copious amounts of sauce," the restaurant replied on Facebook.
"But ... we are listening! It is new on our winter menu which was launched today and we will make sure that we keep our punters happy and meet your expectations.
"We are adding more sauce and more of [the] good stuff too. Looking at our records here, you did appear to arrive on a wine tour, however, this makes no difference to us. We will serve our food as intended for everyone and will not discriminate against groups or families."
The restaurant has now posted the new nacho dish to Facebook, and it's certainly an improvement.
Whoops!
Something has gone wrong here. Elmar’s would like to formally apologise for the nachos delivered on Saturday to Ashlin. After the coverage that has been displayed all over some social media sites portraying an unappetizing dish, we acknowledge we made a mistake. Whilst the Nachos displayed on socials weren't a true depiction of the dish, we did listen and they have been improved!
To show the public that we have acted on the type of product you really want, please view this footage of ‘our version’ of vegetarian nachos.
Elmar’s in the Valley is offering our vegetarian nachos for ½ price from the 7th to the 11th June.
If you have not had the chance to visit us already and try our nachos come out next week and experience them for yourself....
