Dane gulped. The Adventurers Club Cave Camp. Brad thought that caving, abseiling, and snorkelling would be exciting, but Dane wasn't so sure. What if he got lost in a cave? What if he couldn't deal with the pressure? He was afraid, but he didn't want to say so. Mum might understand, but not Dad. Dad was always saying how lucky Dane was to be part of the Adventurers Club.
"You don't have to go to this camp if you don't want to, Dane," said Mum, almost as if she had read his mind.
Dane looked up. "Isn't it all paid for?"
"It certainly is," said Dane heartily. "Now don't worry, you'll have a great time. It's perfect for people your age - a chance to have a little adventure instead of staring at the television or playing computer games. I wish I could come along."
"But you don't have to go, Dane," Mum said again. "We can cancel the booking."
Dane was just about to jump at this suggestion when he saw Dad's face. "What do you think, Dad?" he said.
Dad shrugged. "Well, we can cancel the booking if you want us to," he said. "We could probably get most of the money back, or transfer it to a later camp."
