Henry's Drive Dead Letter Office Padthaway Shiraz 2013 $23

Named after the postal clerks of old who had the authority to open "undeliverable" mail, this glossy, purple-crimson wine delivers a message of vanilla, pencil shavings, plum and blackberry. It's got heat, heft, hairy tannins and leathery, dusty length. She's a big shiraz, mate - now chuck us another wombat pattie, would ya?

Waipara Hills Riesling 2015 $16

Crafted from fruit grown in the "Mound" vineyard near the cellar door in North Canterbury, this is a riesling saturated with granny smith apple, honeysuckle and mandarin flavours. Simon McGeorge is the winemaker responsible for this little cracker that's slightly sweet, crunchy and tangy to taste. Great to sip with waldorf salad.

Ti Point Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2015 $22

This is an eyepoppingly good value chardonnay that's had some nicely handled oak attached to a batch of peach-packed, pineapple-edged fruit injected with a seam of banging acidity. It's multi-layered, fresh, bouncy and gum-numbingly good with gnocchi swimming in sizzling sage butter.
