As they drove off, she looked out the window and felt excitement bubble up inside her as she thought about what the day had in store. The netball courts were shining grey as the early morning sun melted the frost. Scores of girls in multi-coloured uniforms milled around taller coaches. Some of the juniors were already playing.
On her way to court eight, Skye stopped to watch a game. It was amusing to see such fierceness in the eyes of the first-year players. Then she heard crying. Skye looked toward the noise and was disturbed to see a small child, his eyes wide with distress and big tears falling down his cheeks, crying, "Mama. Mama." Skye glanced around to see if anyone was taking any notice before going over to the child. She crouched down and took his hand.
