It was chilly, and the cat, usually off to hunt lizards by this time, was still sleeping soundly under the blankets.
"Hey Mulder, you wimp. Time to get out of bed."
Mulder, a black and white fluffy bundle, opened one eye cautiously and dug his claws more firmly into the sheet.
Giggling meanly, Skye ripped back the covers to expose the poor creature to the reality of morning. Seemingly unconcerned, Mulder yawned, stood up and stretched, then in response to the sound of the fridge opening, bounded off Skye's bed and disappeared down the stairs.
Now that her bed was stripped of comfort and she was on her own, Skye reluctantly swung her long legs over the side of the bed and stood up. It was time to get going anyway. She was meeting Robyn down at the netball courts at nine o'clock and then, after the game, they were going to Shannon's to meet up with the rest of the gang.
Apparently, Shannon had a great idea. Another one.
