One of Jack White's favourite bands is returning. Whirlwind Heat, best known for replacing their guitarist with a Moog synth and for churning out oddball, Devo-style rock 'n' roll, are here to promote their upcoming, self-produced album Types of Wood. They're at Happy, Wellington, on June 27; Ward Lane, Hamilton, on June 28; and the Kings Arms, Auckland, on June 29. The Mint Chicks play support. Types of Wood is the follow-up to the minimalist Do Rabbits Wonder? Also returning to New Zealand is drum'n'bass producer Klute, to promote his double album No One's Listening Anymore. He's at Fu, Queen St, on July 9 with support from Riddle, Nick D and Omen.
