Anyone who has seen an episode of the hit '90s show knows that the gang spends a whole lot of time in the coffee shop Central Perk - more time, it seems, than they spend at their actual jobs.
The characters routinely have mugs in front of them, sometimes picking them up from Gunther at the counter or getting served by Rachel, who was a waitress there for a time.
In the 236 episodes of the show, they all drank a total of 1,154 cups. According to the graphs, which Kit shared on Twitter, Phoebe drank the most over that time. She downed 227 cups, almost one per episode.
She was followed by Chandler with 212, Monica with 198, Joey with 191, and Ross with 188.
Rachel - perhaps put off by coffee from her days as a waitress - only drank 138 cups.

Kit also arranged the data by season, finding that almost everyone was drinking less coffee in seasons seven through ten than they were in the first seasons. Only Rachel's numbers rose dramatically, as she drank very little in the first two seasons while working at Central Perk.
Kit explained how he put the data together, saying that he didn't actually sit through the entire show taking notes. Instead, he fast-forwarded through any scene that wasn't at Central Perk - while keeping an eye on mugs that might pop up in other places.
What's more, he tallied up the cost of this habit, figuring that cups cost about $1.50 each based on a price mentioned in one episode. He also factored in a 20 per cent tip, since Chandler and Joey discuss that number in one episode.

With that math, he estimates Phoebe spent $408.10, Rachel spent $248.40, and everyone else spend somewhere in the $350 range.
Answering one commenter who wondered whether Phoebe may have been sipping herbal tea, Kit said: "I [decided] to make the assumption that anything in a mug was coffee unless otherwise stipulated."
According to the Huffington Post, Kit put together the info in 2013 after reading an article about the characters' caffeine intake.
"It came about after I read a piece I read on the Scientific American blog an assumption about how much coffee each character drank each episode," he said. "I was a little disappointed to see that no one had actually tried to figure out the real numbers, given that the source material was out there."
Despite how much time he seemed to spend on the project, though, Kit insisted he isn't a "die-hard fan" of the show.
