Poor quality pants have been causing problems for Victorian Police officers in Australia, with an unusually high number of crotch blowouts being reported.
Members have complained that the trousers they have been issued are splitting apart even during routine arrests and are also sweaty and uncomfortable.
Police Association Victoria secretary Wayne Gatt said that they have been informed that the cut of the pants also hinders movement.
"The material used in manufacturing the pants is particularly unpopular with members, who have advised that the material does not breathe, and that the pants cause excessive sweating particularly in summer."
In response the Victoria Police have assessed the uniform and issued pants with a strengthened crotch seam.
