You've bought him the joke socks, the tired old rugby book, so this year celebrate Fathers' Day with a boy-friendly outing or two. There's Wild Wheels at MOTAT, the best showing of cars from Minis to Mustangs from the Museum's collection and specialty car clubs, with music, a beer tent and fun stuff for the kids. Take him down on the farm at Ambury Park for family fun, a barbecue, toe tapping music and loads of cute baby animals. Butterfly Creek and Rocket Ropes have dads go free all weekend (so long as dad's accompanied by two admission paying children). Auckland Museum is appealing to the small boy in every dad with North Shore Model Railway Club's trains running in The Studio tomorrow, part of the Taku Tamaki.
All tomorrow: MOTAT, 10am-5pm. Ambury Park, 11am-4pm. Museum model trains, 10am-5pm. The Studio in Taku Tamaki, Auckland Museum.

Until September 27. Today 7pm, tomorrow 5pm, TAPAC, Western Springs.
4. Giddy up
The racing season kicks off at Ellerslie today with two of the most prestigious jumping races of the calendar - The Meadow Fresh Great Northern Steeplechase and the Schweppes Great Northern Hurdles both incredibly challenging races with plenty to keep spectators on the edges of their seats.

5. Love me tender
Somewhere in the world, someone is doing an Elvis Presley tribute show. This weekend, it's Auckland's turn when Max Pellicano presents Elvis to the Max - he's been charming Aussies for decades with his spooky resemblance to the The King.
Tonight, 8pm, Bruce Mason Theatre, Takapuna.
