Don't know what to do with yourself this weekend? We've handpicked the top five things to do around Auckland.
Rug up and pretend we've got a northern hemisphere winter, right here in balmy old Auckland.
1. Sliding away
Our new annual school holiday ritual, the Aotea Square Ice Rink, is back for a month. Winter is much prettier when you're twirling on ice, spangly lights reflect off your blades. This year they've added 35m of multi-level ice slides.
Townies need to don their red band gummies and head to Hamilton for the New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays, the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. Big and small can check out the giant machinery, but there are plenty of inventions and ingenuity to intrigue any townie, plus amazing food.
Details: Today, 8am-5pm. Mystery Creek Events Centre.
3. Staunch to the end
The World War I centenary commemorations continue. Be sure to check out the Royal New Zealand Ballet's special programme, Salute. Outstanding dance from New Zealand composers and choreographers, accompanied by the New Zealand Army Band.

4. Fever pitch
The world's future football stars are getting to the gritty end of the World Cup with the FIFA U-20 World Cup Quarter Finals this weekend.
In Auckland USA are battling Serbia for a place in Wednesday's semis, while Queen's Wharf's Fever Pitch is hosting food and entertainment from South and Central America this weekend (with the final Europe community day on Friday).

5. Catch of the day
Hugely popular everywhere, and every time, they've played, Indian Ink Theatre's Kiss the Fish is back for a new season of masked magic, ancient theatrics and modern pop. Next week is the eternally popular Krishnan's Dairy returns from June 16 - 20.
