KEY POINTS:
Line 7, one of the most iconic names in marine clothing, has launched its own range of wet weather gear.
Marketing manager Greg Flynn says the company has been manufacturing and distributing the Musto range for a number of years but has now decided to produce a range of wet weather gear under its own label.
"This new range has been developed from the ground up and created with new fabrics and styling. We've also asked people like Finn Class sailor Dan Slater to test our prototype jackets and trousers," says Mr Flynn.
He says the new range is made from 100 per cent waterproof and windproof fabric, designed for optimum breathability with a number of built-in safety features.
The clothing is available in six different ranges. The top-of-the-line Ocean Range is specifically designed for round-the-world sailing with jackets and trousers boasting an extremely high level of waterproofing and breathability.
The Offshore Range combines safety features and protection from the elements, while the Inshore Range is for the sailor who requires a high level of performance, but also wants something to wear ashore.
The Gulf Range is designed for harbour sailing and moderate coastal conditions, and the Squadron Range is suitable for all forms of day boating.
Line 7's new range will be tested in Friday's Coastal Classic, with Dan Slater, former Oracle team member Ed Smyth and renowned yachting coach and Team New Zealand weather guru, Grant Beck, wearing the wet weather gear on board their 9.2m trimaran, Line 7.
