The Oscar-winning Wellington visual effects company most famous for its work on Peter Jackson films is moving into comics.
Weta Workshop will collaborate with United States-based Archangel Studios on the next instalment of graphic novel series The Red Star, The Dominion Post reported today.
The comic, which uses computer-generated images, has sold more than a million copies.
Weta head Richard Taylor, a five-time Oscar winner for work on Peter Jackson's King Kong and The Lord of the Rings, said his staff were big fans of The Red Star and working on it would be a highlight of the year.
The series may be adapted to the big screen by Universal Pictures.
