Westenra to tour NZ in January

Christchurch's internationally renowned teen diva Hayley Westenra is to make her first tour of New Zealand in two years.

Seven concerts across New Zealand between January 17 and 28 will also feature Westenra's British musical director, Ian Tilley, accomplished Christchurch violinist Fiona Pears and guitarist Simon Lusby, the tour's promoters said today.

Westenra will perform in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North, Tauranga, Auckland and Hamilton.

Immediately after her short New Zealand tour, Westenra will travel to the United States where she is to join operatic boy band Il Divo on their world tour - a long series of engagements that will take up much of next year.
