A group of young film-makers from Wellington are winging their way to Los Angeles to join the movie world's best at the Academy Awards.
They include film-maker Taika Cohen, whose short film, "Two Cars One Night" has been nominated for an Oscar in the short film category.
The movie's producer, Ainsley Gardiner, says she still cannot believe that they are going to the Oscars, and it is all a little awe-inspiring.
She says the closer they get to Los Angeles, the more they will be able to let go and relax into the Awards hype.
The movie trade paper Variety has tipped the New Zealand film to win its category.
Ainsley Gardiner believes the movie has been nominated because it does such a good job of telling a strong story, despite its short time frame.
