KEY POINTS:
This week Tatum Savage will be running around like a mad woman with M.A.C creating makeup looks and providing makeup teams for an incredible 21 shows at Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
Savage has been communications manager at M.A.C for just over a year, calling it the best year of her life. "My heart has always been in the fashion and beauty industry, so I'm delighted to be working for a brand that fuses the two industries together."
She's a champion of local design talent with her love of fashion even being rewarded by footwear designer Kathryn Wilson, who recently named a very hot pair of heels after her. Needless to say, Savage has bought four pairs - "one in every colour!"
Who are your favourite designers?
New Zealand has a great pool of creative talent and I love how they're not afraid to take risks. For me and my style, I'm particularly fond of Zambesi, Nom*D, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Lonely Hearts and Cybele. I still pull out Zambesi pieces I have had for over 10 years - I love that!
Who does the best jeans?
I love wearing Ksubi and Stolen Girlfriends Club jeans. They both do great super-skinny cuts and I like the individuality and personal creativity the designers put into their jeans.
What's the one thing everyone should have in their wardrobe?
An Imelda Marcos supply of shoes. Shoes are a great way for sprucing up a wardrobe. And if your wardrobe is anything like mine, it is full of black so a pair of coloured shoes can add a splash of life!
Your best beauty tip?
Invest in good makeup brushes. It is amazing how much they improve your application, no matter how confident you are with applying your makeup. It is definitely worth spending a little more to get a good 10 years out of a brush.
What is your beauty routine?
I follow a fairly rigorous beauty regime. I use the entire M.A.C skincare range including Green Gel cleanser, Microfine Refinisher Exfoliator, and Strobe Liquid (which is amazing for giving your skin a lift after a late night). For my body I use Origins Perfect World body cream.
How do you define the word "fashionable"?
To me, fashionable means self-expression. I'm really inspired by people who aren't afraid to express themselves through their styling and be slightly different to the norm.
You feel best wearing?
Designer mixed with vintage.
Dress to impress whom?
Me! I believe if you feel great in what you're wearing and wear it with confidence everyone else will think you look great too.
Best city for fashion shopping in the world?
New York. I had the luxury of going there with M.A.C and I have never had so much fun shopping.
What do you wear to work?
Anything goes at M.A.C - as long as it's black!
