By COLIN DOWLAND
Mr and Mrs Neevil, his parents, had raised 26 little grubs altogether. Like most weevils, his parents had very poor memories. The had named each baby grub after a letter of the alphabet to make it easier to remember. Weevil was number eleven and so he had been called Weevil K. Neevil. He was big for his age and much more curious than his brothers and sisters. He had always wanted more from his life than just eating crumbs from sunrise to sunset. Weevil K. Neevil wanted the whole cream cracker, the full chocolate biscuit. He knew that there were exciting adventures waiting for him. He would not find them among the heavy bags of flour and rice on the Top Shelf. He wanted to explore the big, wide kitchen out there. He had tried to tell his father about his dreams. His father would simply reply, ``Just eat up your grub, Grub,'' and would carry on munching his crumbs.
