Cars of shapes and sizes smoked into Hawera for the annual Americarna festival.
"Americarna is a celebration of the American car culture, any vehicle American, or any American themed car," says John Rae, Americarna organiser.
The day saw American car enthusiasts come out to enjoy the festivities and sun. Glenn Smith bought his especially for the event, despite having never been before.
"We always wanted an American car and a couple of my mates do it and go cruising on weekends and stuff. I was going to buy a modern Camaro and had a look at a couple and decided I would rather get an old school car, so we looked around and found this car in North Carolina and fell in love with it and shipped it back," says Glenn Smith, a new American car enthusiast.
Car enthusiasts came from all around the world with one making the trek from Dubai.
Perhaps the most excited was a new local, who hails from South Carolina.
"The sound, the fact that I've lived in Hawera for three years now and this comes to Hawera every year, and I am eating this up," says Vanessa Feller, a local American car enthusiast.
However, the highlight of the festival was drag racing up the main street, which really stole the show.
