Next morning at school, Dylan came straight over to Ben. With him as usual were Assad, Kieran and Gerry, the only girl in the group.
"You coming to Mister VR's tomorrow?" was the first thing Dylan said to Ben. "I suppose so," said Ben.
He saw that Dylan and all his other friends were holding Vince's flyers and looking pretty excited. Ben would have been excited too, normally, but he still felt uneasy about Rory. No-one ever talked about him, for one thing. The name of Rory Polestar was never mentioned. And yet Dylan, Gerry and the others had been crazy about him. Rory, with his dreadlocks and his big grin and his wicked sense of fun, had been the most popular kid in the school. And then he had just been wiped out, like the writing on yesterday's whiteboard.
