Vertical Limit brings Hollywood to Auckland

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood shone on Auckland last night at the Premiere of the film Vertical Limit.

The film was shot in Queenstown and Mount Cook last year, and star Chris O'Donnell, producer Lloyd Phillips and director Martin Campbell were at the gala premiere showing in Newmarket.

Red carpets, champagne and all the other trimmings normally associated with a Hollywood premiere were in evidence as people clad in tuxedos and evening gowns flowed through the cinema foyer.

Television personalities and actors were amongst those invited, as well as Sir Edmund Hillary.

O'Donnell plays a mountain climber trying to save a group of climbers trapped on K2, the world's second tallest mountain situated in the Himalayas.

O'Donnell believes there will be many positive spin-offs for New Zealand as a result of film.

Even though audiences will believe that the mountain is actually K2, he says filmmakers will know where it is set.

O'Donnell will also attend tonight's premiere of Vertical Limit in Queenstown.
