Review: Russell Baillie
The Randy Newman-penned soundtrack to the equal-sequel is a reminder of his consummate skills as a write-to-order song-and-soundtrack man and is also a cut above the usual diabetes-risking Disney tunes that usually come with animated features.
Though it is short on songs - just the western swing of Woody's Roundup, the Sarah McLachlan-sung When She Loved Me and a reprise of the first instalment's You've Got a Friend In Me.
The remainder of the tracks, the orchestral character themes and scene scores which are anything but cartoonish, are thoroughly listenable with a mix of The Big Country-ish sweeping western melodies, dramatic ditties and general jauntiness.
Should bring out early conductor potential in any small children still buzzing about the flick.
