Valerie Adams responds to baby balcony photo concerns

New Zealand Olympic shot putter Dame Valerie Adams has responded to concerned fans who worried about the balcony picture she posted on Facebook.

The photo shows the Olympian mother and her six-month-old daughter, Kimoana (her cherished gold) on the balcony of a building on the Gold Coast.

Anxious fans worried about the pair standing so close to the railing.

On Thursday, Adams responded, telling fans "Kimoana is in safe hands". She added the hashtags #calmthefarm, #enjoytheview and #moveon.

Adams was responding to fans who had left comments about being "freaked out" by the picture.

"This woman is so inspirational and I hope she wins something today but that balustrade is freaking me out. Looks so low but I am guessing that Val is just so tall," one wrote.

"This gives me anxiety that you're standing so close to the rail and you're so high up," someone else said.

One fan even likened the photo to Michael Jackson's infamous balcony stunt when he dangled his nine-month-old son from a fifth-floor hotel balcony.

"Bit close to the edge with bubs #michaeljackson," the person said.

Not all fans were left nervous by the photo, with many commenting on how adorable the pair looked.

"One of the strongest women in the country, and she looks like she has a pretty firm grip on Kimoana too," someone wrote.

Another said: "There will always be someone with a judgmental opinion, good on you for rising above. You are an inspiration to mums everywhere. Who else can say they won a silver medal at the commonwealth games six months post baby."
