An increasing number of New Zealand women are having plastic surgery to change the appearance of their vagina.
In this exclusive video, the Herald Online speaks to a Kiwi woman who was unhappy with the way her vagina looked, described it as a "nuisance," so opted for what's known as labiaplasty.
We hear from plastic surgeon, Dr Murray Beagley, who says he meets with two to three women each week, curious about the procedure. He says he's seen a steady rise in the surgery over the last seven years or so.
"I'm the first person that sat there listening to them that can actually make a difference to them," he says.
We also speak with critics of labiaplasty, who say it's perfectly normal for women to look different and that the messages about a perfect vagina are concerning.
