Unwanted Gest thrown out

A judge threw out a US$10 million ($15 million) assault lawsuit against Liza Minnelli by former husband David Gest, who claimed she beat him so badly during alcoholic rages that he needed hospital treatment.

Justice Jane Solomon said Gest's doctor had failed to rebut the 60-year-old singer's doctor, who said Gest's headaches were caused by shingles, not beatings.

Minnelli and Gest, 53, were married in 2002, with Michael Jackson as best man and Elizabeth Taylor as maid of honour.
