Musically, they have little in common, but they're both sure to pull a solid crowd at next year's Big Day Out.
Tool and The Killers have been confirmed as headliners for the Big Day Out 2007 at Mt Smart Stadium next January.
American metalheads Tool should see a rowdy crowd of boys and bogans, similar to the 2003 Big Day Out, when Metallica took the stage. Las Vegas rockers The Killers will provide more of a balancing act, pulling the ladies with their catchy pop rock'n'roll.
British rockers Muse - known as a real "band's band" - will be the day's sole Brit rock act, as America dominates the international line up with the Violent Femmes, My Chemical Romance, Peaches and Spank Rock.
Australian bands Jet and Eskimo Joe finish up the international set, while Scribe, Evermore and the Mint Chicks will showcase local talent.
Big Day Out 2007 will take place on Friday, January 19. Tickets are $110 plus booking fee, on sale October 13 from Ticketek, Real Groovy, Sounds and ECM.
A second line up announcement will take place on November 8.
