A collection of letters and other documents from J.R.R. Tolkien was sold at auction to an anonymous telephone bidder for £58,750 ($204,205).
The collection, compiled by the writer's friend George Sayer, shows the development of his classic Lord of the Rings.
The earliest letter in the collection asks for the return of a manuscript of the trilogy as George Allen & Unwin, the publishers, are now "clamouring to reconsider it".
