Call the doctor. There's about to be a spate of heart flutters because John Rowles is coming home for one concert in Wellington.
The golden crooner will be joined by Sir Howard Morrison, Taisha, and up-and-coming hip-hop group, the Musical Island Boys at the Michael Fowler Centre on April 30.
Rowles, whose song If I Only Had Time was sampled by electronica duo Lemon Jelly, is based in Sydney and continues to tour the world singing crowd pleasers such as Cheryl Moana Marie and Fools Rush In.
Also cruising across the Tasman is Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins. This solo tour follows her support slot for the Finn Brothers towards the end of last year.
Missy, who will be supported by Rodney Fisher from Goodshirt, plays Auckland's SkyCity Theatre on April 28, the St James in Wellington on April 29 and the Limes Room at the Christchurch Town Hall on April 30.
Meanwhile, for a slight change of pace head along to hard-hitting British drum'n'bass dude Fierce on April 2 at Fu in Auckland. Don't miss this performance from a producer who will certainly leave an impression imprinted across your forehead.
Also next month, the front man for power pop band the Posies plays two shows. Ken Stringfellow, who is touring with REM in New Zealand, will return to these shores in April for two shows featuring the material from his new solo album, Soft Commands.
Stringfellow plays the Kings Arms in Auckland on April 16 and at the Matterhorn in Wellington on April 17.
But wait, there's more. Six-time Grammy award nominee Mark Murphy, a jazz vocalist, arrives here this week for two shows.
Discovered by Sammy Davis jnr, Murphy will perform at the Century Theatre in Napier on April 1 and Auckland's Joiner Theatre on April 3.
And for all you Lulu fans out there (yes, you!), her April 29 show at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna has been postponed because of the rescheduling of her Australian tour. Another date has yet to be confirmed.
Time only for one concert
