How did you get into music?
I began church singing and playing piano when I was 3 years old. I took music all through school and wanted to go professional at university. I am in my final year of a Law and Arts degree.
What are your latest plans?
My debut album will be released in the next few weeks and then I will be touring Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Samoa in April.
Your best recent gig?
Samoa Jazz concert at one of the hotels in Apia and Orientation with The Artistry.
Who do you admire most among the current Pacific musicians?
I admire the fact that there are many Pacific musicians creating music at the moment.
Is Pacific music and culture recognised enough in New Zealand?
Yes, it is recognised. Now is the time that Pacific music is on the rise but it should be recognised even more and not just among Pacific people but all music lovers.
How has Pacific culture influenced your music?
In the melodies, harmonies, instruments, the laid-back feel of the music and music that makes you want to laugh and dance.
Would you ever go on NZ Idol?
No. If I did, I would do a well-known soul r'n'b song by a top female artist such as Mariah, Whitney, Aretha or Lauryn Hill.
