Fans of The Lord of the Rings have snapped up tickets to see The Return of The King on the country's biggest cinema screen, buying them all in just four days.
Demand has made Village Skycity Cinemas in Queen St, Auckland, open up more cinemas for the 12.01am launch of The Return of the King on December 18, after the Mega-Screen sold all its tickets.
Tickets for the movie went on sale to Village club members last Thursday and the opening weekend sessions are selling quickly, a Village Skycity spokesman said.
After the film's launch the Queen St cinemas, Skycity Metro, will screen it all day and night for four days. Tickets for the movie at Village cinemas will be available to the public from Thursday.
