THE GOOD GIRL
Herald rating: * * *
A discount store clerk (Jennifer Aniston) strikes up an affair with a stock boy (Jake Gyllenhaal, Donnie Darko) who thinks he's Catcher In The Rye character Holden Caulfield. An unexpected triumph for Aniston, it's the story of her character coming to terms with a mundane reality when faced with a new, exciting relationship that's almost too good to be true. Flashes of black comedy brilliance are mixed with more serious dramatic themes. (2002)
