Thurman honoured in France

France has honoured American actress Uma Thurman, proclaiming the "classic and disconcerting beauty" a knight in the Order of Arts and Letters.

Cannes Film Festival Director Gilles Jacob awarded the honour on behalf of France's Culture Ministry.

Thurman's career "would make her the favourite actress of an entire generation," he said.
